ClinBolt
Privacy notice
How ClinBolt handles information about you on clinbolt.com and its subdomains.
Last updated 28 September 2026
The short version
- There are no accounts and no ads, and we never sell or share your data for marketing.
- Google Analytics runs only if you accept it. You can change your mind at any time from Cookie settings.
- Some tools remember your progress or settings in your own browser. That stays on your device.
- Questions or requests go to connect@clinbolt.com.
Who we are
ClinBolt runs clinbolt.com and its subdomains. We decide how the information described here is used. For anything about your privacy, including the requests listed under "Your rights", email connect@clinbolt.com.
What we collect and why
1. Server logs, on every visit
Our web server records each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, your browser type (user agent), and the page you came from. We use these logs only to deliver the sites, keep them secure and fix problems.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in running secure, working websites.
- Kept
- A small rolling window. Logs rotate automatically and the oldest are deleted as new ones are written.
- Where
- On our own server, hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
2. Google Analytics, only if you accept
If you choose "Accept all", or switch on Analytics in Cookie settings, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and tools are used. It records the pages you view, when, your device and browser type, your approximate location (country or city, worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store), how you reached us, and a random ID kept in _ga cookies. We don't send it your name, email address or anything you type into our tools.
If you choose "Reject all", or never choose, Google Analytics is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google.
- Legal basis
- Your consent. You can withdraw it at any time from Cookie settings; this does not affect anything collected before.
- Kept
_gacookies expire after 13 months. Google Analytics keeps the data for at most 14 months.- Who processes it
- Google, on our behalf. Google may process data in the United States, under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Google's advertising features are turned off.
3. Your cookie choice
We remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics in a cookie called cb_consent, shared across clinbolt.com and its subdomains so you are asked only once. It holds only your choice and the time you made it, and it expires after 6 months, when we ask again. It is strictly necessary, so it is set without asking.
4. Emails you send us
If you email connect@clinbolt.com, we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply. The contact form on our home page does not send anything itself: it opens your own email app with the message filled in. We keep emails for as long as the conversation needs, then delete them.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you ask us to take.
5. Stored only in your browser
Some tools keep information in your own browser's storage so they work the way you expect. It is never sent to us.
- Trial Quest saves your game progress and settings, and stores its files so the game works offline.
- Longevity Dashboard remembers the display mode you picked.
You can remove this at any time by clearing site data for clinbolt.com in your browser settings.
Services your browser contacts directly
A few tools fetch code or public data straight from other organisations. Those services receive your IP address and the request, and handle it under their own privacy policies.
- Site Overlap Explorer looks up trials on ClinicalTrials.gov (U.S. National Library of Medicine) and compound names in ChEMBL at EMBL-EBI.
- Site Feasibility Analyser and Site Overlap Explorer load the Plotly charting library from Plotly's servers.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Set when | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
cb_consent | Remembers your cookie choice across clinbolt.com and its subdomains | You make a choice (strictly necessary) | 6 months |
_ga | Google Analytics: tells visits from the same browser apart | Only after you accept analytics | 13 months |
_ga_2QBG227Q5J | Google Analytics: keeps the current session together | Only after you accept analytics | 13 months |
Withdrawing consent deletes the _ga cookies straight away.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent or trade personal information.
- We don't show ads or use Google's advertising, remarketing or personalisation features.
- We don't create accounts or build profiles of individual people.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give it to you in a portable format, and you can object to how we use it. You can withdraw consent to analytics at any time from Cookie settings.
Email connect@clinbolt.com and we will reply within one month. Google Analytics data is tied to a random ID rather than your name, so to find it we may need the ID from your _ga cookie.
If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
ClinBolt is not aimed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this notice
When we change this notice we update the date at the top. If we start using cookies for something new, the cookie banner will ask you again.
